Currently Matt’s receives donations in one of several ways.
Individuals or Community minded groups collect and bring in canned food, produce and even fresh eggs. Food can be dropped off on Saturday morning when the pantry is open; or by calling 828-361-9083 to arrange another day if Saturday’s are not convenient.
The kinds of food always needed by the pantry include:
|dried beans all types – black, pinto, lima, peas, kidney
canned vegetables – spinach, potatoes, mixed vegetables, cream style corn (reduced salt when possible
Non-food items: diaper’s, toiletries. Soap (bars) laundry detergent
Beef stew, canned soup, chili
canned meats – tuna, chicken, ham
Matt’s Food Bank is affiliated with Manna, which is part of the National Feed America effort. Matt’s purchases the majority of its food from Manna and then supplements its food bank content from local stores who also supply donations. Additionally, we purchase needed items not available as surplus for client’ s in need. For every dollar that Matt’s spends with Manna, we are able to provide enough food for 3.5 meals.
Contributions come in monthly from local individuals, and businesses. Donations can be made directly, or in memory or honor of a family member.
Checks can be made out to Matt’s Ministry and be sent to: PO Box 205, Hayesville, NC 28904.
Matt’s is a Mission of Ledford’s Chapel, UMC a 501c3 entity.
